Examples are set at home.
Regardless of whether home consists of:
mom and dad,
just dad,
just mom,
grandpa and auntie,
grandma,
or a stranger with a huge heart –
the example for living is established for our children within the home.
EXCELLENCE doesn’t just happen. It is established and placed in repeat mode – consistently.
I recently reposted a video in my Instagram Story based on excellence. In this video, Steve Harvey talked about the inner change one experiences once they’ve experienced first class and the difficulty that is created to return to anything subordinate.
As I listened, I thought of how true this is in life, in general.
It’s hard to choose or tolerate for long:
– cheap corner store wine when you’ve been to Italy and had well-aged wine on a century old vineyard
– a motel when you’ve stayed at a 5-star hotel
– a J10 when you’ve driven Rolls Royce
Exposure to options creates inner change that will either disturb you to make progressive changes within your life or disturb you to become frustrated, give up, and stay in a now self-imposed comfort zone.
A child’s first exposure to what life should look like occurs at home.
How are you as a parent/guardian displaying positive life skills – daily?
Are you demanding your child to:
– read yet you prefer to be a Netflix junkie?
– take better care of their bodies yet you cut corners regularly?
– have a positive attitude yet you cuss out people on the drive to school regularly?
Whether your children are present or not, your attitude and behaviour sets the tone within your home.
Like a ripple in a pool of water, your actions and reactions transcend to those who are looking to you for an example.
Not until another option is presented to them are they challenged to change the flow of their life.
Their ripples in life – in society – are a direct reflection of your initial drops in their life.
Let’s continue to invest in our children as whole beings – fueling their mind, body, and spirit.
